Today at The Covent Garden Academy of Flowers we did what has become known as the ‘Hand Tie Challenge’. Every person has a bucket of randomly chosen flowers and foliage given to them and are then asked to create a hand tied bouquet within a specific time frame. You then undo it and pass the bucket along to the next person, receiving a new one yourself. We started at 40 minutes to allow time for conditioning, then went down to 30, 20, 10 and 5.
I have always loved doing hand ties, I find them very rhythmical and relaxing to do, and as a general I work speedily, but I was still challenged to create something beautiful, that a person would be happy to spend £40 odd on in 5 minutes. But as they say practice makes perfect, and they were pretty decent by the end of the morning.
What do you think? Why not test your hand tie skills.
