Two of my greatest loves in life are flowers and cocktails. So I had a plan…put the two together! Hardly an original plan, but a plan none the less and I’m going with it.
I enlisted the help of Charlie, who worked for a brief period at Adventure Bar in Covent Garden, and is therefore considered by me to be a cocktail God, and together we have created this.
Meet the incredabley boozy, lavender, lemonade. Its delicious!
To make a jug to serve 4 you will need:
The juice of 6 lemons
1 cup of sugar
Handful of fresh lavender flowers (the leaves will work too, but the resulting taste won’t be as strong)
1-2 cups of vodka (you can go to town on the amount you want)
Lots of water
Lots of ice
To make your lavender syrup pop all your sugar and 1/2 a cup of water into a saucepan over a medium heat. Once simmering happily add the sugar and leave till it is completely dissolved. Then add your lavender and the zest of 2 lemons and stir gently for about 5mins. Remove from the heat and allow to cool. If you were having a party you could make this up the day before and have it in the fridge all ready to go.
Juice all your lemons and pop the resulting the juice into a jug, sieve your lavender syrup into the jug, add your vodka (you drink at this point but it will knock your socks off and you over) and fill the rest up with water. You can use soda water if you want some fizz, but I prefer it this way.
Serve over masses of ice, in freezer chilled glasses, adding a lemon curl and left over cutting of lavender if you feel particularly fancy!
Cheers!!
If you give this a go over the weekend I’d love to know your thoughts, so don’t forget to tag me on twitter or instagram.
Now that’s my kind of lemonade!
Yay! Seriously delicious but completely lethal if you drink the undiluted version!! xox
Challenge accepted! Shots perhaps…?
I sense an epic evening ahead…!
